What is GST Inclusive Exclusive Calculator?

A GST inclusive/exclusive calculator converts a price between its tax-inclusive and tax-exclusive forms side by side. Enter one amount, choose whether it currently includes GST or not, and the tool shows both versions of the price together with the GST amount.

This amount is

Pricing conversations often mix inclusive and exclusive figures, which causes confusion. This calculator shows both the GST-inclusive and GST-exclusive price for the same item at the same time, so you can compare instantly.

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Enter the amount you have.
  2. Tell the calculator whether that amount already includes GST or not.
  3. Choose the GST rate.
  4. View both the inclusive and exclusive prices, plus the GST amount, side by side.

How the Calculation Works

From exclusive to inclusive: Inclusive = Exclusive × (1 + Rate/100)

From inclusive to exclusive: Exclusive = Inclusive ÷ (1 + Rate/100)

Worked Example

An exclusive price of ₹5,000 at 12% GST gives an inclusive price of ₹5,600 (GST = ₹600). Conversely, an inclusive price of ₹5,600 at 12% gives an exclusive price of ₹5,000.

Who Should Use This

Helpful for retailers deciding how to display shelf prices, and B2B sellers who quote exclusive prices but need to show the inclusive amount on a final invoice.

Important Considerations

Always clearly label which price — inclusive or exclusive — is shown to the end customer, as consumer protection rules require the final payable price to be transparent.

Common Mistakes

Confusing which direction to calculate in is the main risk: multiplying an already-inclusive price by the GST rate again effectively double-taxes it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does "GST inclusive" mean?
A GST-inclusive price already has the tax built into the displayed figure — the customer pays exactly that amount, with GST forming part of it rather than being added on top.
What does "GST exclusive" mean?
A GST-exclusive price is the base amount before tax. GST is calculated on top of it and added separately to arrive at the final payable amount.
